Las Vegas like any other city attracts huge tourist crowds as well as thieves. To enjoy Las Vegas I have provided a few practical tips:
1) Always be on your guard for pickpockets. Keep your wallet or purse and other valuables hidden.
2) Always use the extra dead-bolt lock when staying in your room. Never leave behind too much cash or valuables in your room.
3) While at a hotel lobby or airport, make a habit to keep a hand on your luggage, or keep it in front of you at all times.
4) It's no easy stroll to walk from the Strip to Fremont Street. So avoid making this walk where there are areas without much people.
5) When walking always use the crosswalks. If you are caught jay-walking in Vegas, you will be fined $95.
6) Be extra careful when walking or driving, and especially around the Strip; there are many accidents that occur near the Strip.
7) It's important to bring a photo ID with your current address and anything with your name and social security number on it. But do not carry your Social Security card in your wallet or purse.
8) If you take a cab to your Strip hotel, tell your driver not to take the freeway. Some dishonest cab drivers will take a round about freeway route which raises your fare.
9) The cheapest way to arrive to Las Vegas is with a vacation package. The best ones are last minute vacation packages.
