1) Be prepared for a lot of sunshine and mild climate. Plan your trip accordingly so you can take full advantage of all the outdoor activities you can enjoy once you arrive.

3) Do not forget to make photocopies of your passport and travel documents; keep them in a safe and accessible place.

4) Only carry what you will truly require of cash on you for each day's activities and expenses.

6) For summer light cotton clothing is recommended for the most comfort; warm clothing is needed for winter. Most South Africans dress casually for the majority of occasions.

7) Bear in mind that fuel cannot be bought with a standard credit card.

8) The best places for shopping are the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town and Sandton City in Johannesburg; they provide first world shopping experiences.

9) For eating, you can select from international standard cuisine in the best hotels and restaurants; or you can also dine at one of the smaller bistro restaurants.

10) Tipping is generally expected practice for guides and food service; tip 10% of the overall bill is normal.

11) It's a good idea for prevention to get vaccinations aganist Malaria which is predominant as P. Falciparum form.

12) If you required medicine, it can be bought at both emergency pharmacies and pharmacies which are open at night.

13) You can receive a refund at the port of exit for sales tax; but you must have your passport, receipts, and items bought with you when you go to claim your refund at the departure lounges of Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban International Airports.

14) Since the standard power is 220 volts AC, the majority of foreign appliances will require an adaptor to connect with the local electrical power source.

15) Remember you must drive on the left side of the street. Also, you must pay toll fees for most National routes. The speed limit is 60km per hour.

16) It's required for all drivers to wear seat belts, and small children and babies must be restrained in a suitable child seat.

17) Drinking and driving is not recommended; penalties are harsh.

18) It's recommended to rent a car to drive around South Africa, since public transportation is not that good. Taxis are expensive.

19) The sun is severe so wear sunscreen.
